Lawrence with his eggs...and chocolate bunny
In Brazil's Easter tradition, children get chocolate eggs. But calling them 'eggs' only works if you think on the scale of an ostrich...a Brazilian Easter egg can be more than a pound of chocolate.
Calvin and Lawrence did two easter egg hunts this year - one at church, one in our backyard. Both featured the American-style, reusable plastic eggs. We put chocolate in some eggs, filling others with erasers and coins and stickers. This seemed like the prudent nutritional choice, as long as they didn't eat the non-edibles.
My theory was it didn't matter what we filled the eggs with, that hunting for them was its own prize. This seemed vindicated after Calvin and Lawrence spent 10 joyous minutes scouring the backyard. As they sat down to open their eggs, Calvin cracked the first one, "Look! Stickers!" he cried out, further confirming my theory.
Then he continued: "Womp, womp...well, maybe the next egg has Kit Kats,"
I don't know where he learned that sad trombone noise. It's probably my fault.
Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office) is probably the right amount of famous. Think about how hard it must be for Steve Carell or John Krasinksi to go places. The right amount of famous is people sitting next to you on the plane watch your show, but also people sitting next to you on the plane don't recognize you.

Luana and I had a miscarriage at the end of last year. I've been working on this essay about that experience for a few months now. Writing everything out has helped process my feelings about what happened.
I think a best-case scenario would be meeting others who have been through similar experiences, who might say “yeah, you’re not alone; I feel some of these same things too.”
Until next week,

Family Photo: Autonomous Car While visiting Las Vegas last week, my dad and I rode in a Zoox. A Zoox is an autonomous robotaxi, purpose-built for automomous riders. The vehicle has no steering wheel: inside is just two benches allowing passengers to face each other during the ride. Two sets of folding doors allowing entry/exit from both sides. The symmetrical design, completely wrapped in cameras and sensors, means no functional difference between front and rear. It is not clear if the...
Family Photo: No Place Like Home I attended DynamicsCon 2026 last week. This year's event was in Las Vegas, which apparently piqued my dad's interest in Microsoft's enterprise SaaS offerings...so we drove out and attended the event together. One evening, after learning the latest about inventory costing, demand planning, and Power BI administration, we headed off property to watch The Wizard of Oz at The Sphere. Outside The Sphere. The Sphere is a monument to immersive entertainment. Its dome...
Family Photo: Commit Calvin started futsal this season. It's our first foray into team sports. The new activity comes with new calendar commitments: practices every Monday, games on Wednesdays or Fridays depending on the whims of whoever's in charge of those decisions. Calvin's the youngest kid on his 1st/2nd grade team. He's enjoying it, and his indoor soccer skills are improving. It helps that all his teammates are nice. I don't know if that's a statistical anomaly. Maybe kids are just...
